GE Digital Energy operates a high-capacity UPS Testing Center, enabling customers to witness firsthand the critical testing procedures performed on power systems designed for mission-critical applications such as data centers and other essential infrastructure. The facility allows customers to comprehensively evaluate the operational performance, stability, and reliability of UPS systems before deployment.

Comprehensive Testing in a Real-World Environment

Located near Dallas, Texas, USA, the GE UPS Testing Center is capable of simultaneously testing up to six three-phase UPS systems, ranging from 10 kVA to 750 kVA per unit, operating in a Redundant Parallel Architecture (RPA).

Customers can verify the overall performance of UPS systems when integrated with other critical power components, including battery systems, output distribution cabinets, wireless data acquisition systems, and control systems, ensuring the entire power solution operates seamlessly and reliably.

Large-Scale Facility with High Technical Standards

The testing center spans more than 80,000 square feet and features six dedicated testing bays with a total electrical load capacity of up to 4.5 MVA, operating across a power factor range of 0.8 to 1.0. All power and control cabling is routed beneath the raised floor, providing a safe, organized, and technically advanced testing environment.

Transparent Data and Verified Performance

Within this state-of-the-art facility, customers can observe their equipment throughout the testing process while accessing real-time test data, electrical waveforms, and comprehensive performance reports. Early visitors to the facility have highly appreciated GE’s investment in advanced testing technologies and the well-designed layout, which ensures a transparent and efficient validation process.

Automated and Precise Testing Technology

The center is equipped with a fully automated PLC-controlled output switchgear system designed for RPA configurations, integrated with GE MDS wireless data acquisition technology and GE Multilin power monitoring systems.

Automated testing procedures include:

  • Performance testing from 0% to 100% load for individual UPS modules and parallel systems
  • Step Load and Short Circuit testing
  • Continuous monitoring of voltage, current, frequency, Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), and power consumption

Detailed test reports are generated automatically, providing customers with comprehensive documentation of system performance and reliability.
